At the Y, we believe all people deserve the support that best suits their needs. In the Adaptive Swim Lessons, our instructors are specially trained to provide small group, semi-private or private swim lessons to individuals with diverse abilities. Depending on needs and circumstances, a participant may need to be accompanied by an adult during lessons. Please contact the aquatic department to discuss your specific needs.

Let�s create! Campers will ignite their imagination with a variety of media. They will take part in engaging, creativity-driven activities that will encourage them to collaborate, communicate, and imagine new things as they innovate and express what art means for themselves and others! This is an on-site experience. Campers will not travel off-site.

There is art all around us! In Arts in Nature Camp, campers will be exposed to the beauty, patterns, and hidden art, and & mathematics in the natural world. Come on an artistic adventure as we explore components of the outdoors combined with all things art!

This class is designed to give participants ages 11-14 the knowledge and confidence to babysit. Contact Marie Straube at 630-834-9200 for more details. Due to food allergies, students may bring their own lunch and snacks.

Sports Speciality Camp focuses on a different sport (or sports!) each session � and this session is all about baseball and softball! Campers will learn specific skills and strategies for the week's sport(s) using the appropriate equipment in gym and outdoor spaces. During this session, Campers will focus on catching, base running, throwing, and batting.

Coding & Robotics Camp is designed to engage campers in hands-on activities that stimulate interest in computer science and lay a foundation for careers in STEAM disciplines. With a focus on the Vex IQ robotics system, campers will be introduced to basic concepts in mechanical engineering, computer logic and circuitry, and programming and will then collaborate to create their own robots that can play games, complete challenges, and compete in low-stakes robotics competitions. This is an on-site experience. Campers will not travel off-site.

Give back to your community, Service Squad! Campers will visit local organizations � such as the fire department and police department � to learn more about public service work and will also participate in community service and volunteerism projects.

In this half-day specialty camp, campers will unlock their inner scientist to explore fossils, animals, insects, and more!

Love all things LEGO? At LEGO Imagination Camp, campers will be challenged to create creatures, cityscapes, mechanical inventions, and more! They will engage in LEGO activities designed to strengthen their creativity, critical thinking, and communication skills while applying useful and fun science and engineering concepts.

Calling all creative types! In our "do it yourself" (DIY) program, campers will use materials, tools, and media of all kinds to create projects. Throughout the week, creations and crafts will be made using techniques in woodworking, stitching, plaster, and papier-mache, with the goal of creating final take-home products by the end of the week.

Campers will learn specific skills and strategies for the week's sport(s) using the appropriate equipment in gym and outdoor spaces. During this session, Campers will focus on strategic maneuvering, hand-eye coordination, and courage under fire.

Campers will work together to design their own runway-ready fashion lines, creating ensembles from unexpected materials and sources. Activities may include styling and competition!

During this session, Campers will focus on basic drills, positioning, and game play.

Get ready to buzz in your answer! Campers will have the chance to show off and build their knowledge banks with days of trivia, games inspired by popular game shows, and so much more!

Is your camper interested in learning what makes everyday inventions and devices work? Do they want to design their own? At Inventions Camp, young inventors will engage their creative and technical minds to experiment with mechanical and electrical engineering concepts, solve problems, and design incredible inventions using littleBits and other STEM educational tools.

Looking to spend some quality time with your spouse or special someone but need to find a babysitter for your kids? Look no further. Bring your kids to the Y for an evening of fun and activities while you enjoy your evening out! Themes activities & games, pizza and gym/ice skating included (seasonal).

"Kids Marathon Camp is a summer-long program for youth ages 5-14. Over the course of the session, campers will run a total of 26.2 miles --- just not all at once! Under adult supervision, each participant will run 13 weekly one-mile runs, along with additional individual and team runs. It all culminates in an end-of-session Race Day on August 4, including a 1.2-mile run, complete with race bib and shirt! "

The Leaders in Training (LIT) Camp is a mentorship program for young teen campers that focuses on leadership development, job preparedness, and real-life experiences to sharpen campers' organizational, social, and interpersonal skills. LITs may also assist younger camp groups, participate in personal development and team-building exercises, and take the Red Cross Junior Lifeguarding and Babysitter classes. Where applicable, LITs will also swim and participate in the weekly field trip. Requirements vary by site and may include a letter of recommendations and orientation accompanied by a parent or guardian may be required, where behavior expectations and other details will be discussed.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: � Must be 15 years old (show proof of age) � Pass a 300-yard pre-requisite swim test, tread water for 2 minutes without using hands, swim & retrieve a 10-pound object from water 7-10 feet deep in less than 1 minute, 40 seconds to be performed on 3/16 � Blended Learning Assignment must be completed and certificate of completion handed in the first day of class (emailed out upon registration) 3/17 � Must attend all scheduled class sessions, written & practical exams � Refunds for all lifeguarding classes must be requested in writing 48 hours prior to class start and will result in a $50 administrative fee. Failure to finish prerequisites may only result in a partial refund. � Certification is not guaranteed � Water Park certification � Must have Basic Lifeguard to be valid (Training date TBD)

Through creative play and exploration, campers will gain knowledge and appreciation of the natural world around them, including plants, animals, and tracking. Counselors will guide our young explorers in experiences that nurture their connection to the earth, allow them to feel at home in the natural environment, and recognize beauty and patterns in the world around them.

Paddleboarding can be super difficult! Fortunately, Paddleboard Camp focuses on fun through a combination of yoga poses, games, and skill-building, in order to increase campers' ability to successfully paddleboard! Campers must be able to pass a deep-water swim test to participate.

Hollywood bound? At Stage & Screen Camp, budding actors, directors, and producers will engage with storytelling through acting, improvisation, and introductory filmmaking. Activities include story planning, setting, and character development, as youth dream up and direct projects both on stage and in digital format! Campers will perform at the talent show to highlight their new skills. This is an on-site experience. Campers will not travel off-site.

This isn't your typical sports camp; we're spending a week focusing on one of America's favorite pastimes: bowling! Campers will have a ball as we visit some local lanes in pursuit of the perfect 300 � the highest possible score!

Something's afoot at Day Camp! Super-sleuth campers can join Investigation Camp for a week of clue-gathering and crime-solving as they dive into the world of forensic science. Magnifying glass optional; inquiring mind required.

Swim Lessons Stage 4: STROKE INTRODUCTION Stroke Introduction is appropriate for preschool and school age participants. Students will be introduced to basic front and back crawl, as well as butterfly and breaststroke kicks. Students will also work on treading water endurance and be introduced to elementary backstroke. Safety will be reinforced when students learn about beach and boating safety and basic first aid practices. Goggles are recommended for this stage. The price indicated is a monthly rate. The monthly charge will continue while progressing through the stages and until you notify us that you wish to discontinue the lessons.

Water Acclimation and Movement: This class is appropriate for preschool and school age participants. Students will become comfortable independently going underwater, front and back glides, and safely exiting the water. Safety is reinforced when students learn the importance of lifeguard/adult supervision, asking permission before going into any body of water, finding help, and lifejackets. Goggles are not recommended for this stage. The price indicated is a monthly rate. The monthly charge will continue while progressing through the stages and until you notify us that you wish to discontinue the lessons.

Water Movement and Stamina: This class is appropriate for preschool and school age participants. Students will learn independent front and back glides. Once mastered, students will build on endurance to perform the safety sequences of swim-float-swim and jump-push-turn-grab. Students will work towards treading water up to one minute. Safety will be reinforced when students learn about finding help, reach and throw, don�t go, sun safety, and calling 9-1-1. Goggles are not recommended for this stage.

Stroke Development and Mechanics: This class is appropriate for school age participants. Students will learn all four competitive strokes and both resting strokes while working on endurance. As students master swimming techniques, they will be introduced to competitive shallow dives and turns. Safety will be reinforced when students learn basic first aid and CPR skills, the importance of rest, and of continued physical activity. Goggles are recommended for this stage.

Water Discovery and Exploration: The infant/toddler program requires a parent/guardian to be present in the pool with the participant at all times. We will introduce basic aquatic safety to parents and set healthy expectations for your child. As children progress in comfort around the aquatic environment, you'll help your child explore by introducing basic skills like kicking, blowing bubbles, assisted floating on front and back, and exiting the water safely. The price indicated is a monthly rate. The monthly charge will continue while progressing through the stages and until you notify us that you wish to discontinue the lessons.

Teen campers will have fun exploring some of Chicagoland's most interesting sites by traveling 3 days per week to exciting locations: waterparks, sporting events, museums, Six Flags, and more! Campers will also participate in different community service projects throughout the summer. Teen Camp is a great way for your teen to explore the area around them and build new relationships!

Teen/Adult Water Movement and Stamina: YMCA teen and adult beginner swim lessons are designed for those with little or no swimming experience. Skills will include water acclimation and comfort, proper floating, breathing techniques, and basic swim strokes including front crawl, back crawl and elementary backstroke.

Now that you�ve immersed yourself in The Blue Paradox at the Museum of Science and Industry, it�s time to turn the tide on the ocean plastic crisis � and the Y is ready to dive in and help by engaging you in one of the best water activities: swimming! With generous funding support from SC Johnson, the YMCA of Metro Chicago is providing 1,000 Chicagoland youth with one month of free swim lessons designed just for you and your skill level in and around water.

At this project-based camp, held in collaboration with the Walt Disney Birthplace, tinkerers will learn about the properties of various materials � paper, cardboard, wood, plastic, electronics, and more � to experiment and make innovative, useful, interesting, and unique inventions. Concepts include aerodynamics, elasticity, and mechanical properties.

Campers will participate in an array of educational and recreational activities that develop social skills, self-confidence, sportsmanship, character, and a healthy lifestyle. Activities may include creative and performing arts, sports, and group games.

Calling all wizards, warlocks, and fantasy lovers! At Wizard School Camp, campers will participate in potion-making, duels, quidditch, and other magical mischief.

In partnership with special olympics Illinois, the YMCA is launching a young athletes program. This innovative sports play program for children ages 2-7 with or without intellectual disabilities, over the course of eight weeks, will help participants build and improv physical, cognitive and social skills. This program will address different levels of play, starting with level 1: developing fundamental motor tracking and hand-eye coordination.
