YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago Launches “Adults’ Sports of All Sorts”

CHICAGO, August 12, 2025 — This fall, the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is inviting adults to rediscover the fun of recess with Adults’ Sports of All Sorts, a new program that brings nostalgic playground games back in a relaxed, social-first setting. Designed for adults ages 21 and up, the program kicks off Tuesday, September 9, at both the Sage YMCA and Foglia YMCA Community Hubs and runs for six weeks.

Adults’ Sports of All Sorts features a rotating mix of low-pressure, high-energy games like pickleball, dodgeball, and volleyball. Whether you were an intramural all-star or haven’t played since gym class, everyone is welcome. The new YMCA of Metro Chicago program focuses on camaraderie over competition, so there are no playoffs, trophies, or pressure. Adults’ Sports of All Sorts offers a new and fun reason to get off the couch, meet new people, and simply enjoy the game.

“I'm really looking forward to kicking off our Adult Sports of all Sorts Program! This experience will be something fresh, fun, and honestly just a great excuse to get out, move around, and authentically connect with others in a laid-back setting. I think it's exactly what a lot of us need right now, and I can't wait to see everyone out there having a great time!” Jivon Murray, Association Director of Sports.

Unlike traditional adult recreational leagues, this new YMCA of Metro Chicago offering is all about creating space for movement, laughter, and connection in a supportive and inclusive environment. This program provides an opportunity to shake off the workday, get a little silly, and build community one game at a time.

The YMCA of Metro Chicago is thrilled to offer this opportunity for grown-ups to reclaim play as a form of wellness and belonging! Registration is now open for our fall sessions.
