Yaritzi Nunez Named Executive Director of the McCormick YMCA

The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago announced today that Yaritzi Nunez has been named Executive Director of the McCormick YMCA (MCY) in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood. In her new role, Nunez will oversee the MCY's programs and services, facilities, and staff, and work to advance the Y's mission to strengthen community by connecting all people to their purpose, potential, and each other.

“Yaritzi is a thoughtful, collaborative leader who knows how to turn bold ideas into meaningful impact,” said Karen Dziagwa, District Executive Director of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago. “Her creativity, strong work ethic, and ability to inspire others will help the McCormick YMCA deepen its impact and remain a trusted resource in the community.”

Nunez brings extensive experience in youth development, program operations, and organizational leadership to MCY. Nunez previously served as Director of Programming and Operations at Chicago-based Wiz Kids Foundation. During her tenure, the Foundation created new learning experiences spanning STEM, entrepreneurship, engineering, architecture, culinary arts, financial literacy, media arts, and fashion design; grew from two to six locations; and implemented programs that drove quality, accountability, and staff development. Nunez's background in education also includes work as an elementary educator, reading content lead, and grade level chair.

“I’m excited to join the team at McCormick YMCA and step into this role,” says Yaritzi Nunez.  I’ve always been passionate about creating spaces where people feel connected, supported and have opportunities to grow. I’m looking forward to getting to know the community, building meaningful relationships and finding new ways for us to grow together.
