The Y at the 2023 Bank of America Chicago Marathon
At the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, we recognize the dedication and determination required to complete a marathon. It’s a testament to the true Y spirit!
We had an amazing showing at the 2023 Bank of America Chicago Marathon — and it’s all due to our Team YMCA runners and supporters! For the second year in a row, the YMCA of Metro Chicago served as a Charity Partner for the Chicago Marathon.
Thanks to the collective efforts of our Y community, we have raised more than $42,000, exceeding our initial goal of $30,900! This incredible amount will go directly towards initiatives that support our community, bolstering the YMCA's commitment to fostering health, wellbeing, and opportunity for all.
“Running the Bank of America Chicago Marathon has been a lifelong dream, and Team YMCA opened the door of opportunity for me!” said Michael Crino, who competed in the marathon on behalf of Team Y this year. “I was part of an amazing, supportive training team and felt physically and emotionally ready for marathon day. No other charity organization in Chicagoland has the reach that the YMCA has, and I was so proud to raise awareness for the Urban Warriors Program that works with youth who have experienced gun violence. I am now a Marathon finisher!"
The Y extends our deepest gratitude to each and every supporter who contributed to this success — whether through volunteering, donating, fundraising, or cheering from the sidelines. And we want to give a special thank you to the 18 Team YMCA runners who trained for months on top of fundraising for and championing the YMCA of Metro Chicago. Your dedication and resilience have been nothing short of inspiring.
"Marathons are tough and require endurance, stamina, and grit, all of which our Team Y runners exhibited leading up to and during the race,” said Brandon Davis, Vice President of Brand Engagement, YMCA of Metro Chicago. “As one of the biggest cheerleaders for Team YMCA and the YMCA of Metro Chicago, we cannot thank our runners for their support and encouraging donors — their fans that cheered them on — to invest in our mission.”
