Sending Off an Amazing Summer at the Y — and Welcoming a Fantastic Fall!

Sunshine, ice cream, long days, and starry nights — there’s no time like summertime at the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago! And thanks to our dedicated staff and wonderful community, we had a summer to remember. 

Across our association, we spent these last few months fostering new friendships, excitement galore, and endless opportunities for play. Summer is such a time of joy, and at the Y, we were committed to fostering it in every way that we could. Whether our community members were looking for the unforgettable fun of YMCA camp, fresh produce and goods at our Market, the thrill of summer sports, or a sense of togetherness at Y activations at events like the Chicago Pride Parade and Bud Billiken Parade, we had a place and offering for everyone! 

And with the help of our partners, we expanded our presence throughout the region. As an official Community Impact Partner of the Chicago Sky WBNA team, we launched a series of impactful community initiatives focused on development, sports skills and performance, fostering inclusivity through play, and celebrating young girls and women in sports, and so much more. Additionally, we linked up with Peloton to expand our partnership, making world-class fitness options more accessible for the communities we serve through Peloton equipment and free access to the Peloton App. 

Plus, school might have been out, but that didn’t mean we stopped learning and growing. Over the summer, the Y invested in and further developed our Economic Equity portfolio, expanding our Illinois Works and ComEd CONSTRUCT Youth Academy programs. We also introduced Water Works, a brand-new career exploration program designed to unlock a whole new world of careers in and around water.
