Recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month 2024

Mental health is how we think, feel, and act. It’s an important part of our overall health and social-emotional wellbeing, as well as a core component of our identity. This May, in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Kelly Hall YMCA is hosting a range of programs in order to foster conversations about the importance of mental health and wellbeing.   

At the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, we know that improving the mental and physical health of our communities is an essential part of our mission: strengthening community by connecting all people to their purpose, potential, and each other. Whether it's through youth violence prevention, a healthy work environment, promoting movement and fitness, or providing a space to gather with family and friends (or make new friends!), the Y is here for our community — and we’re here for you. 

Please join us for the following programs at the Kelly Hall Y as we learn more about the importance of mental health and ways to achieve overall wellness! 

  • Wednesday, May 1: Mental Health Kickoff (4:30 - 7:30 p.m.) 
  • Thursday, May 2: Coffee Clinical (10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.) 
  • Monday, May 6: Senior Adult Wellness Brunch (11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) 
  • Wednesday, May 8: Family Wellness Night (4:30 - 6:30 p.m.)  
  • Thursday, May 9: Coffee Clinical (10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.)  
  • Monday, May 13: Senior Adult Wellness Brunch (11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) 
  • Wednesday, May 15: Family Wellness Night (5 - 7 p.m.) 
  • Thursday, May 16: Coffee Clinical (10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.), Stress & Yoga Class (12 - 1 p.m.), and Bingo for Wellness (1 - 3 p.m.)  
  • Monday, May 20: Senior Adult Wellness Brunch (11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) 
  • Wednesday, May 22: Family Wellness Night (4:30 - 6:30 p.m.) 
  • Thursday, May 23: Coffee Clinical (10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.) 
  • Saturday, May 25: Pet Parade (9 a.m. - 1 p.m.)  
  • Wednesday, May 29: Family Wellness Night (4:30 - 6:30 p.m.)  
  • Thursday, May 30: Coffee Clinical (10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.)  
  • Friday, May 31: Mental Health First Aid Training (8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.) and Mental Health Celebration (4:30 - 7:30 p.m.)
