Joel Segovia Named Executive Director of the McCormick YMCA

CHICAGO, IL (February 23, 2026) — The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago announced today that Joel Segovia has been appointed Executive Director of the McCormick YMCA, located in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood at 1834 N. Lawndale Ave.  

In his new role, Joel will oversee daily operations; manage, support, and develop the Y’s staff; elevate the member experience; and strengthen partnerships with members, community partners, and neighbors. 

Segovia has extensive experience across aquatics, recreation, and youth development at the Y. During his tenure at the Y, he expanded access to swim lessons, championed water safety initiatives, and led programs that prepare Chicago youth to become lifeguards and swim instructors. His passion for developing leaders, celebrating young people’s achievements, and creating inclusive, welcoming communities aligns with the Y’s mission.
