Foglia YMCA Celebrates Space, Spirit, and Community
Last month, the Foglia YMCA in Lake Zurich welcomed members, donors, and community leaders to celebrate the grand reopening of its newly renovated lobby — a space now transformed into a vibrant symbol of connection, renewal, and community spirit.
The event began with opening remarks from Kimberly Bless, Foglia YMCA Executive Director. Kimberly recognized the many individuals and organizations who made the transformation possible, including Vince Foglia and the Foglia Family Foundation, whose generosity turned a distant dream into a vibrant reality. Kimberly also thanked Leopardo Construction and architect YoungHee Han and Rich Klein of Weese Langley Klein Architects LTD, as well as YMCA staff, volunteers, and board members — especially Foglia Y Board Chair Vicki Pesch.
Remarks from Vince Foglia and Holly Allen, YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago Chief Development Officer, followed, highlighting the legacy of the Foglia Y and its exciting future. Vince shared his pride in the project and teased the next phase: upgrades to the fitness floor.
The ceremony’s centerpiece was the ribbon cutting, where oversized scissors met a bold red ribbon to enthusiastic applause. Guests then enjoyed networking and refreshments, celebrating not just a new lobby, but a renewed commitment to community.
“The Foglia YMCA has always been a place where people come together, whether to work out, learn, grow, or simply connect,” said Kimberly. “Over the past months, we’ve worked hard to reimagine this lobby as a more welcoming, functional, and inspiring space.”
As the Foglia Y marks its 25th anniversary, this new lobby stands as a welcoming gateway to the next chapter — one filled with belonging, growth, and shared purpose.
Special thanks to everyone who made this transformation possible, as well as the guests who joined us in our celebration!
