Elmhurst YMCA Marks 65 Years of Service to the Community

ELMHURST, IL (November 6, 2025) — The Elmhurst YMCA will mark its 65th anniversary with two events designed to celebrate its history, recognize those who helped create and sustain it, and support its continued service to local individuals and families.

The first event, the Legacy Celebration, will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at the Elmhurst YMCA, 211 W. First Street, Elmhurst, IL 60126. The evening will focus on the Y’s 65 years of impact and include light refreshments. Parents can also take advantage of the Y’s free Kids’ Night Out, which will provide supervised activities onsite for children during the event.

For generations, the Elmhurst Y has been a cornerstone of local community and family life, helping children gain confidence in the pool, giving teens a place to lead and learn, offering ice-skating and hockey leagues for all skill levels, and engaging older adults through Silver Sneakers fitness classes.

“For 65 years, the Elmhurst Y has given people of all ages a place to find belonging, support, and opportunities to grow – mind, body, and spirit,” said Ron Anderson, Elmhurst YMCA Executive Director. “This event is a chance to recognize those who helped build and sustain the Elmhurst Y and to look ahead to how we’ll continue to serve families, individuals, and seniors with programs that meet their evolving needs.”

As part of the anniversary, the Elmhurst YMCA has set a $65,000 fundraising goal to strengthen programs that empower youth, support young adults and families, engage older adults, and promote community well-being. Anderson noted that whether attendees are longtime supporters or new neighbors, their participation will help write the next chapter of the Y’s story.

A free Community Open Skate will follow on Friday, November 28, 2025, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Elmhurst YMCA Skating Rink, also located at 211 W. First Street. The open skate will be open to the community at large.
