Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Community Impact Day 2023

The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago extends our gratitude to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) for their support and partnership in commemoration of BCBSA’s Community Impact Day on Tuesday, October 10. This was the second year that the organizations came together on Community Impact Day to update and beautify YMCA spaces!

Community Impact Day is a company-wide day of service that supports local nonprofit organizations focused on health and wellbeing. The YMCA of Metro Chicago had an amazing turnout of more than 100 employee volunteers across three YMCA locations — North Lawndale YMCA in Homan Square, Rauner Family YMCA in Little Village, and South Side YMCA in Woodlawn.

Volunteers spent the morning and early afternoon helping beautify and organize the YMCAs’ indoor and outdoor spaces. This included painting walls, landscaping, and gardening. After a day of hard work and community engagement, volunteers and Y leaders regrouped for a “closing circle” to share the impact of volunteer support, both on the Y and BCBSA employees!

“We are grateful to have dedicated partners who invest their time and resources into strengthening the communities served by the YMCA. It was powerful to see the BCBSA employees rolling up their sleeves in an effort to help create beautiful and functional spaces for local families to engage in Y programming,” said Molly Silverman, Chief Growth & Engagement Officer, YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago.

Following their volunteer work, BCBSA made a special contribution of $10,000 to the YMCA of Metro Chicago. We are incredibly grateful for BCBSA’ generous commitment and continued partnership with the YMCA, as well as their support of the Y’s mission of connecting all people to their purpose, potential, and each other.

Thank you to BCBSA and the volunteers who came out to the YMCA. Your support, in all of its forms, truly helps strengthen Chicagoland and the surrounding Midwest by helping the Y serve as a hub of community, connection, and growth.
