Before & After School Care 2026-27 Registration Timeline

The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago has provided Before & After School Care for more than 30 years and is the largest provider in the Chicagoland area. From homework help and social emotional support to recess, our fantastic teams bring a sense of play to every offering.

Our programs are an extension of school that’s as fun and unique as your kid! Read on to learn more about our 2026-27 registration timelines.

Early registration for 2026-27 YMCA Before & After School Care opens on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 8 a.m. via YMCA Community for households:

Who hold a YMCA of Metro Chicago Family Membership.
Or, who participated in Y Before & After School Care for the 2025–2026 school year.

Registration then opens for the public on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 8 a.m.

There will be priority pricing at YMCA Community Hubs for Family Membership holders who must maintain the membership through the entirety of the school year to receive that priority pricing. Participating Community Hubs include:

Buehler YMCA
Elmhurst YMCA
Irving Park YMCA
Kelly Hall YMCA
McCormick YMCA
South Side YMCA

Off-site YMCA locations will have a single, standard rate. You can view all Before & After School Care off-site locations here via our locations webpage using the “Childcare & Education” filter.

Please note that our Safe ‘n Sound locations will have an additional waitlist registration period beginning Monday, April 27, 2026, at 8 a.m. via YMCA Community. If you are moved off the Safe ‘n Sound waitlist, you will receive a call from the YMCA of Metro Chicago and you will have 48 hours to register.
