Lake View YMCA Kicks Off Pride Month with Drag Bingo Night 🏳️‍🌈

BINGO! Lake View YMCA’s Drag Bingo Night, hosted by the KiKi Queens, was a total success!

The Lake View Y was absolutely buzzing with joy and excitement. We enjoyed pizza donated by Homeslice Chicago plus fresh salads donated by Big Star and cheered during Nita Bevvy’s performance to “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga. Nita was joined by Izzy Contagious to host our bingo games, with winners taking home prizes donated by Building Blocks Toy Store; Jerry’s Sandwiches; Love, Charlie; and Sugar High Waxing and Sugaring Studio!

Also, the lucky winner of our raffle will be joining the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago on the 2023 Chicago Pride Parade route. That’s right! The Y is participating in this year’s Pride Parade! (Read more about that below.)

“We couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off Pride month than with a full ‘house’ of Y community members and friends — all coming together to celebrate LGBTQ+ pride, history, and community,” said Karen Dziagwa, Executive Director, Lake View YMCA. “Since our first ever Drag Bingo Night sold out, and based on community feedback and the fun we all had, it’s safe to say this definitely won’t be the last Lake View Y Drag Bingo Night!”

Thank you to our sponsors and donors — Building Blocks Toy Store; Big Star; Compass Dental; Eye Spy Optical; Homeslice Chicago; Jerry’s Sandwiches; Love, Charlie; The Scratch Collective; and Sugar High Waxing and Sugaring Studio — and everyone who showed up to support the Lake View Y and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community!

And a huge thank you to the KiKi Queens, Chicago’s only live charity drag show, for coming out and giving us a fun and hilarious night that we’ll never forget! All funds raised go towards supporting Lake View Y initiatives and services that uplift our community members, helping them learn, grow, and thrive.

Missed Drag Bingo Night? No worries! You can still support the Lake View Y and our mission to connect ALL people to their purpose, potential, and each other through a tax-deductible contribution

And the Pride celebrations aren’t over yet! This year, the YMCA of Metro Chicago will be participating in the Chicago Pride Parade — one of the nation’s most renowned celebrations of the LGBTQ+ community. Join us on the parade route on Sunday, June 25, starting at 12 p.m. at the intersection of W. Montrose Ave and N. Broadway as we commemorate Pride Month, LGBTQ+ history, and our commitment to empowering the LGBTQ+ community and combating oppression.
