Mercyhealth Helps Strengthen Community One Event At A Time

Mercyhealth, a new partner of the Sage YMCA, helps bring to life popular events, such as the Holiday Community Breakfast, Halloween at the Y, and Healthy Kids Day®, the Y’s national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids and families.

"We are truly humbled by the support Mercyhealth has given to the Sage Y. We both want to make our community stronger, and by joining together we are able to make a bigger impact on so many lives." says Robyn Ostrem, Executive Director of the Sage YMCA.

Mercyhealth is a title sponsor of the Sage YMCA Corporate Challenge, an annual community event for companies around McHenry County. Every year, teams from different companies compete in activities ranging from volleyball to trivia to scavengers hunts. Members of the community love to participate in the challenge because it’s a wonderful way to raise money for charity and bond with colleagues in a fun, supportive environment. The Corporate Challenge is Sage YMCA’s only annual fundraiser and raises funds for the Y’s Financial Assistance program, which provides families and children with financial need the opportunity to become a part of the Y through memberships and programs. Last year, the Sage YMCA provided more than $107,000 in financial assistance.

Both Mercyhealth and the Y are committed to providing free and low-cost programs for adult fitness and children’s after-school activities. To complement Sage YMCA’s health and fitness programs, Mercyhealth hosts free physician presentations to Y members on wide-ranging topics that include weight loss, nutrition, diabetes, joint health, and arthritis. These invaluable talks have helped educate members of the community on important health concerns and empowered many to take charge of their health.

“Mercyhealth is proud to partner with organizations who strive to make a difference in the health and well-being of the community. We have a passion for making lives better and we share in Sage YMCA’s dedication to building healthy, confident, connected and secure children, adults, families, and communities,” says Jennifer Hall, Sage YMCA Board Member and Vice President of Government Relations & Community Advocacy at Mercyhealth.

Mercyhealth is the leading healthcare system in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, providing high-quality care to all patients through its 700+ employed physicians and its vast network of hospitals, clinics, and specialty services.
