Y Adventure Guides Cardboard Boat Regatta

This past Sunday the Three Owls Federation of the Y Adventure Guides took to the pool for their annual Cardboard Boat Regatta! Participants tested their engineering and teamwork skills to build boats from just cardboard and duct tape and raced them in the water

The boats did especially well this year; some boats supported two children and lasted “much longer in the water than expected,” according to the Federation Leader, Mike Ochs. Mike is a passionate parent leader who loves the program because of all of the fun bonding opportunities it provides him and his daughter, Emma.

In Adventure Guides, parents and children develop healthy relationships, gain a sense of belonging, and learn the importance of giving back to the community through one-on-one interactions, activities with other families, and community service projects.

Most of us lead very busy lives and often wonder how to fit in quality time with our kids. This is where the Y Adventure Guides come in. Guides is a flexible program that allows parents to lead, influence, and teach while presenting opportunities for children to explore the world around them.

Coming up next up for the Y Adventure Guides: Chicago Wolves Game Day, Cave of the Mounds Outing, and the Spring Campout!
