UPDATE: Child Care for Essential Workers Now Just $20 Per Day
We are sending virtual “high-fives” as we announce that we are now able to provide emergency child care services for first responders and essential worker families for only $20 per child per day.
Thanks to Governor Pritzker’s update that all essential workers in Illinois are eligible for child care assistance during the pandemic, our Y can be partially reimbursed for providing these services. This allows us to pass the savings back to our families. Our $20 daily rate includes three meals plus snacks for every child during our extended 13-hour day. Children will also learn and be inspired through programming taken from our Y camp and after-school curriculums. This programming includes physical activities, arts and crafts, and homework help. And, we continue to put safety first in everything we do. We have taken abundant precautions to keep the children and our staff safe, including temperature checks, social distancing, daily deep cleaning and more. If you’d like to learn more about the steps we have put in place, feel free to click here.
Our reduced daily rate still allows us to provide financial assistance for our families who are not able to pay for the child care they need. It’s just another example of how we are all supporting each other during these challenging times. Please share this great news with anyone you know who may benefit from or need the Y’s emergency child care services.
This service is currently offered at Buehler and Irving Park YMCA locations Monday - Friday from 6:30 am - 7:30 pm.
