Discovery Happens at Camp
Go on an Adventure at Camp Independence!
Traditional Overnight CampCampers foster lasting friendships while playing sports, creating arts and crafts, singing around the campfire, paddling a boat, and more. As this may be the first chance for many campers to spend a night away from home, they are encouraged to become active participants in their own care as well as their continued development of independence. Campers are shown that even though they have a disability; they can be anything they want to be and are provided with an environment where they can be successful. Most importantly, the camp offers them a welcoming atmosphere where they can have fun! We have traditional camp program weeks for nearly every age!View Programs

Find Joy in Giving
Every year, YMCA Camp Independence provides a safe, welcoming, and encouraging environment to every camper. Your investment ensures that the Y has the resources it needs to care for the children, families, and communities we are privileged to serve, including providing scholarships to campers in financial need.
Each fall, YMCA Camp Independence gathers stakeholders from across the midwest to join together for our Annual Gala. This event alone raises well over half of the funds needed to ensure no camper is turned away due to inability to pay.
Thanks to generous donors, most campers attend Camp Independence for a fraction of the actual cost of camp, ensuring every child has the opportunity to attend, regardless of their family’s financial situation.
