At the heart of the Hastings Lake YMCA is the power to transform—both yourself and the world around you.

7-year-old Seth came to the Summer Day Camp program at the Hastings Lake YMCA in 2015. Seth’s mom indicated that Seth had been taking medication for ADHD for some time and was recently told by his physician that he may fall on the Autistic behavioral spectrum as well. Seth’s mom said that because of all of the camp activities and exceptional counselor staff, he had been doing so well that there was no need for him to take his medication during the summer. She said, “The counselors went above and beyond with Seth! He would go on and on into the evening about how much fun he had at camp that day. He just loved the counselors!” Seth’s mom was also so proud to mention that when Seth returned to school in the fall, his teachers reported that he had become a leader in his classroom. She shared, “Seth’s verbal skills increased, and his coordination improved as well! It is an absolute blessing that we put him in the summer day camp program at the Hastings Lake Y.”

As a nonprofit organization committed to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Hastings Lake YMCA has been proud to help our neighbors learn, grow and thrive for over 90 years.

Between the whistles of our sports camps, the splash that starts a swim meet and the smile that says “Welcome,” the Hastings Lake YMCA strengthens bodies, minds and communities. Where some see obstacles, we see opportunities for our members, volunteers, program participants and staff to make a difference.

The Hastings Lake YMCA serves the thriving communities of Lindenhurst, Lake Villa, Antioch, Round Lake, Fox Lake, Ingleside, Grayslake, Gurnee and Wadsworth. For 3,743 Y members and 2,982 program participants, the Hastings Lake Y is a destination where local children and families have the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve, and where people of all ages, interests and abilities can build and maintain healthy lifestyle habits.

At the Y, we strengthen community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility because we believe in nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving our community’s health and well-being and giving back and providing support for our neighbors. From fitness to wellness to community service, everything we do at the Y is an exercise in possibility.
