Kindergarten Counts

Children attending morning kindergarten at Paddock, Lincoln, Sanborn, Virginia Lake, Winston, Pleasant Hill, Marion Jordan or Jane Addams schools* can attend an extension program at Buehler that provides enrichment programming until 4pm. Transportation is provided by District 15 for Paddock, Sanborn and the YMCA for Winston, Lincoln, Virginia Lake, Pleasant Hill, Marion Jordan, and Jane Addams. Children begin their day at the Y with a hot lunch.

Afternoon programming emphasizes fun and socialization with friends, along with a kindergarten enrichment program. Each day children participate with their teachers in a special activity which includes swimming, gymnastics, music, and physical education, all of which are included in the monthly fee. Field trips and class parties are scheduled throughout our year.

*We may be able to serve certain other District 15 schools if we have enough registration from that school and we can fit it in our transportation schedule. Contact Jenn Stricker to find out availability.

Program Fee
Kindergarten Extension $495/month
Kindergarten Extension & After School $722/month

Fees are based on 180 days of school and broken into 9 equal monthly payments (+ $50 non-refundable registration fee).

*Children may join the Y-Link After School program directly following Kindergarten Counts until 6pm if needed.

There will be a Kindergarten Extension informational meeting for the 2018-19 school year on February 20, 2018 from 6:15-7:15 pm.  Registration opens on Feb. 20, 2018.

Transitional Kindergarten

Buehler is now offering a transitional kindergarten program.  This program is for children who miss the district cut off age for kindergarten or are not quite ready for kindergarten.  Children must be 5 years old by October 31, 2018.  Those children whose birthdays fall after Sept. 1 will be evaluated to determine if transitional kindergarten will fit their developmental needs.  We offer a half day (9-12) option, a full day (9-4) option or full day with before and after care.  For more information and pricing contact Jenn Stricker at 847.410.5230 or

Kids’ Day Out

Here's a solution to those teacher institute, school holiday, conference and student non-attendance days. Our "Kids' Day Out" Program, designed for children kindergarten through 6th grade, is a full day of entertainment for your child, which includes an off-site field trip or in-house entertainment, time in our adventure center and maze, arts and crafts, gym games, and a visit to our two pools.

Bring a lunch, a drink in an unbreakable container, a snack, swimming suit, and towel. Your child does not have to be a YMCA member or a Y-Link participant to attend. Drop-off starts as early as 7am and pick-up ends as late as 6pm.

Your child must be pre-registered, no refunds for late or absent children. Please see our Member Services Desk for daily information two weeks prior to the event. A current "Kids' Day Out" health form MUST be on file. If the person dropping off in the morning is not the person picking up in the evening, a note with the pick-up person's name must be on file.

Watch for Kids' Day Out dates!
