Meet Our Day Camp Team: Sarah Labonar

Sarah Labonar, one of the Buehler YMCA’s Day Camp Counselors, is a recent graduate of William Fremd High School! She lives in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and will be attending Illinois State University in the fall. She has done gymnastics her entire life and now continues her passion as a gymnastics coach. This summer, she’s looking forward to being in the gymnastics gym again!

Q: Why did you choose to become a Counselor for the Y? 

A: [I chose to become a Counselor for the Y] to continue working in the gymnastics world and just have fun with kids all day long.

Q: What do you like most about the work that the Y does? 

A: The main job is to make kids happy.

Q: What’s one thing people don’t know about you that they would be surprised to find out? 

A: I went to Ethiopia for two weeks in kindergarten.

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be (and why)? 

A: To fly because it would just make everything easier.

Q: What’s the last song you listened to? 

A: “The Way I Talk” by Morgan Wallen.

Q: What’s one thing on your bucket list? 

A: To go bungee jumping.

Q: Anything else you want to share with us? We love random tidbits and facts! 

A: My favorite food is grilled cheese.
