BMO Afternoon of Service on November 1

On Wednesday, November 1, BMO sent a team of their executives to volunteer at the Crown Family YMCA as part of the organization’s Afternoon of Service. The nearly 25 volunteers helped prepare classroom spaces in advance of our re-opening of the Early Learning Demonstration Center (ELDC), helping set up the ELDC childcare team for success!

Volunteers organized the classrooms, unpacked supplies, and moved equipment into place. At the end of the their shift, volunteers were invited to reflect on their experiences and connection with their work in a “closing circle” led by Crown Family Y leadership.

The Crown Family Y is incredibly grateful to BMO and their executive team for contributing to the launch of the ELDC by preparing a welcoming space where children from birth to 5 years of age can rise to their fullest potential.

“My early learning colleagues and I are incredibly grateful to BMO for spending their Afternoon of Service at the ELDC,” said Myla Chambers, who serves as the Early Childhood Site Director at the Crown Family YMCA. “Not only have they helped our staff members check dozens of tasks off of our respective pre-launch lists, they’ve empowered us to devote our time and focus to continue building out the enrichment and education programming for the little ones joining us later this year.”

BMO is a longtime partner and supporter of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, having sponsored the creation of the Collaboration & Innovation Center on the Crown Family Y’s seventh floor.

Thank you to BMO and the volunteers who came out to the Crown Family Y. Your support and belief in the Y’s mission of connecting all people to their purpose, potential, and each other truly means the world to us and to the youth and families we’re privileged to serve.
