As one of the largest non-profit organizations in the Chicagoland area, the YMCA offers licensed preschool and early childhood education in order to provide children a safe and nurturing environment in which to learn, grow and thrive.
In the Y’s preschool programs, your child will build social skills, conflict-resolution skills, self-esteem and friendships! Our teachers are professionally trained and DCFS-certified, with continual professional development in order to ensure the best, most current practices in the classroom. At the Y, we strive to form a partnership with every family based on mutual trust, understanding and respect.
Our preschool curriculum promotes individual growth through learning, explorations and creativity via the Creative Curriculum. The Creative Curriculum is fully aligned with state and national Early Learning Standards. By allowing children to explore their own interests, this curriculum promotes social, emotional, and physical development, as well as language, anti-bias literacy, math and critical thinking.
In order to develop the whole child based on their individual developmental needs, the curriculum also includes science, social studies, cooking, swimming, physical education (gym time), learning with technology, and the arts.
Programs vary by location, including half-days, full-days, science, social studies, gross motor play, creative art experiences, learning through technology, and physical curriculums that include swimming, tumbling, gym time, and ice skating.

Our enrichment programs provide a space where children learn, explore, build self-esteem, and develop strong social and emotional relationships. Children are exposed to art, music, math and science as they develop expressive and receptive language and motor skills.
