Girls Who Code Club 👩🏾💻👾
Program a future in tech while using computer science to make positive change in your community!
Since 1995, the percentage of computer scientists that are women has dropped from 37% to 24% today. Closing this gender gap is an essential part of promoting digital equity — which is why the South Side YMCA is incredibly excited to partner with Girls Who Code to host our Girls Who Code club.
Join us on Fridays from 5 to 6 p.m., starting April 28, for this free eight-week program, where you’ll learn the concepts that form the basis of all programming languages and build coding skills to complete projects that solve real-world problems.
At Girls Who Code club, we’re redefining what a programmer looks like and does by creating a safe and supportive environment where girls can see themselves as computer scientists. Whether you’re new to coding or already a tech whiz, we encourage all girls in grades 6 through 12 to participate.
Girls Who Code is an international nonprofit organization that works tirelessly to close the gender gap in technology. Partnering with school districts, library networks, and afterschool programs, Girls Who Code has reached 470,000 students internationally, half of whom are from historically underrepresented groups.
