Homework help, healthy snacks, physical activity, and other school enrichment activities are offered at select YMCA locations.
The Y works with schools in underserved neighborhoods to provide students the resources they need in order to improve their academic performance. Our comprehensive services include academic enrichment, homework assistance, math and reading support, and a host of other resources students need to succeed!
When schools are closed, structured activities and child-care programs help keep you child safe and engaged.
Many Y locations offer School-Day-Out programs in order to keep children learning - and give parents peace-of-mind - on days when schools are closed. Depending on the Y location, programs could include swimming, field trips, math lessons, arts and crafts, sports and much more!
Regardless of the program, our dedicated staff ensures children are developing the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behavior, better health, and greater educational achievement.
At the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, we know that low-income families in underserved communities need access to high-quality, out-of-school time programs. That’s why the Y’s Community Schools Initiative collaborates with Chicago public schools to provide high-quality programs and services for students in grades K-8. The Community Schools Initiative bridges the traditional boundaries of both formal and informal learning, improving student academic and social outcomes, ultimately empowering families and developing stronger communities.
