The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago has always been committed to youth development, and believes every child and teen deserves the chance to reach his or her fullest potential. As one of Chicago’s largest non-profit organizations, the Y offers licensed child care, early childhood and afterschool programs, day camps, youth groups, and other programs that give children of all ages a safe and nurturing environment in which to grow, learn and thrive. By helping children, the Y is working to bring about lasting, meaningful change to Chicago and its communities.

Subsidized child-care assistance is available to qualified families. If needed, the Y is able to provide assistance to families regarding transportation to and from program activities.

The Y works with schools in underserved neighborhoods to provide students the opportunity to receive the help they need in order to improve their academic performance. Our comprehensive services include academic enrichment, homework assistance, math and reading support, and a host of other resources students need to succeed!
School-Age Programs

Our YMCA Home-Based program offers services to low-income families that are homeless, or living with relatives or friends. Once a week, teachers will visit your home location for a one-on-one session with you and your child. During the visit, the teachers will help your child reach their utmost academic potential.
