Longtime Naperville businessman to help guide the organization’s impact on communities throughout the Chicago area

Chicago, IL – Naperville businessman and civic leader Tom Miers has been appointed to the Board of Managers and the Executive Committee of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, joining the group of managers who lead the Y’s mission of building strong children, families, and communities across Metropolitan Chicago through academic readiness, character development, violence prevention, fitness and healthy living.

Miers, 62, is president of Naperville Bank & Trust, a Wintrust Community Bank. He has held that post since 2010. Prior, he held several executive and senior management positions over a 28-year-career with Clarendon Hills-based MidAmerica Bank. He has also served as the interim Resource Director for the Heritage YMCA in Naperville, one of several Heritage Group YMCAs that were acquired by the YMCA of Metro Chicago.

In addition to his new seat on the Y Metro board, Miers serves as a member of the board of directors of the YMCA of the Rockies in Colorado, and as a member of the YMCA Naperville Advancement Council.  He is the past chairman of the board of the Naperville Chamber of Commerce and the Naperville YMCA, and formerly served on the board of directors of the Edwards Hospital Foundation and the Indian Prairie Education Foundation in Naperville.  He is a founding member of the Naperville Sunrise Rotary Club and a member of Vistage, a national membership organization for CEOs, executives and business owners.

Miers is a graduate of George Williams College, and a resident of Naperville, where he has lived with his family for more than 40 years.

“Tom lives and breathes civic engagement in Naperville and is well respected for his contributions,” said Richard Malone, president and CEO of Y Metro. “We are pleased to welcome him to the Board of Managers, where I know he will communicate with the leaders, partners and members in those great communities to improve the wellness of families throughout the region.
