For six weeks, YMCA Community Schools students from 11 schools practiced every day after school to master various subject matters and showcase their skills in front of an audience of their peers, teachers, parents and YMCA supporters. These prep sessions not only build the students' knowledge, setting them up for greater academic success, but also keep these students safe, and help them to develop critical social-emotional skills such as teamwork and perseverance.
