For 160 years, the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago has provided innovative, community-based solutions in safe, enriching environments that unite and encourage individuals and families to reach their full potential. As the needs of our neighbors shift and evolve, the Y adapts and assesses our programs and resources to determine the best and most sustainable ways to make positive change into the future.
Our mission is to develop strong children, families and communities across Metropolitan Chicago through academic readiness, character development, violence prevention, and fitness and healthy living. As we look back at 2017, we are grateful for the mission moments that happen every day, thanks to the passion and commitment of our donors, partners, volunteers, and staff. There is no other nonprofit quite like the Y. In neighborhoods across Chicagoland, we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver, positive change. We’re a diverse community of 3,500 employees, 5,000 volunteers, and 3,700 donors who work together to bring our mission to life every day.
In 2017, more than 3,700 individuals, organizations, foundations, government agencies, and corporations provided a total of $17.3 million to advance the YMCA’s mission.
