You probably have heard the phrase “Masters Swimming” around the Y recently. Ever wonder what it is? U.S. Masters Swimming is a national organization of adult competitive swimmers. Founded in 1970, you can now find Master Swim Teams virtually anywhere. U.S. Masters is not a YMCA only club, but many Y’s over a program.
Each year High Ridge hosts a U.S. Masters Swimming meet, where the proceeds go to help out our swim teams programs. However, this year High Ridge was able to participate in the meet themselves. The High Ridge Bottlenosers formed last spring and is lead by head coach, Kristine Gilson. Many of the bottlenosers competed this past Sunday bringing the team in third overall. Other participants came from the chicagoland area and beyond. Some swimmers traveling as far as Wisconsin and Rockford.
Overall, the meet was a great success. The age group swimmers, their parents as well as all the coaches were present to make the event run so smoothly.
