NEW Swim Lesson Format Starting this January

January 09, 2017

New format focuses on water safety, self confidence"

This winter The Y is launching a brand new swim lesson program! This new child-centered curriculum will help your child swim confidently at his or her own pace. All classes will focus on water safety, having fun while learning, building character and increasing self-confidence. We’ll provide parents wih helpful resources and weekly feedback to help them be active participants in their child’s learning process. Due to the new Y lesson format, there will be no make up lessons.

Now instead of having to know which level your child is before registering for a class, you just need to pick the day and time that works best for you and we will do the rest!

On the first day of class our instructors will determine which skill level your child belongs in. From there they’ll progress through the levels at their own pace. All classes will close for registration after the first lesson. Registrations will be accepted after the first lesson, but will be put on a waitlist to ensure proper placement by the aquatics department based on the child’s level and class space. Classes will be offered in the traditional 40 minute format, as well as Select classes which have a smaller classe ratio of 1 instructor to 4 students, and are 25 minutes in length.

Lessons are offered for:

Parent/Child Ages 6-13 months  (Water Discovery, Exploration)
