A CLOSER LOOK
From teaching its youngest members how to swim to providing childcare for moms and dads who would like to be healthy for their families, the Foglia YMCA supports and strengthens the Lake Zurich community it serves. But the support it provides to this town extends far beyond the center walls. Every holiday season, the Foglia YMCA organizies its members to lend a hand to their neighbors in need through its Annual Giving Tree collection.
Throughout the holiday season members donate clothes, toys and books to the Tree, which Foglia Y staff then bring to a domestic violence shelter and counseling program in Lake County. The gifts collected are used to replenish the holiday store at the shelter, where women and children who stay there can shop for one another’s presents at no cost to them. Last year, Foglia YMCA members donated more than 600 new items to the shelter, helping make a brighter holiday season for the entire Lake Zurich community.

As a nonprofit organization committed to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Foglia YMCA has been proud to help our neighbors learn, grow and thrive for 14 years.
Between the whistles of a youth basketball league, the splash of a swim lesson and the smile that says “you’re welcome,” the Foglia YMCA strengthens bodies, minds and communities. Where some see obstacles, we see opportunities for our members, volunteers, program participants and staff to make a difference.
Since 2000, The Foglia YMCA has served the thriving communities of Lake Zurich, Vernon Hills, Lake Barrington and more. Today, for over 4,423 members and 139 volunteers, the Foglia YMCA is a destination where local children and families have the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve, and where people of all ages, interests and abilities can build and maintain healthy lifestyle habits.
At the Y, we strengthen community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility because we believe in nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving our community’s health and well-being and giving back and providing support for our neighbors. From fitness to wellness to community service, everything we do at the Y is an exercise in possibility.
There is no other nonprofit quite like the Y. That’s because, in neighborhoods across Chicagoland, we have the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver, positive change.
The Y is, and always will be, dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected and secure children, adults, families and communities. Every day our impact is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, when a mentor inspires a child and when a community comes together for the common good.
