CBS Chicago News featured YMCA Camp Independence to raise awareness about the camp and its 7th Annual Fundraiser. Camp Independence is a camp designed to assist children and young adults with spina bifida through the difficult transition to independence by teaching life skills, building confidence, and boosting self-esteem. Spina bifida is a neurological defect that takes place during pregnancy. Camp Independence holds an annual gala fundraiser so that no child or young adult in need is turned away from the program.
