If you work in an office, odds are you spend 7-9 hours a day just sitting in a chair. Obviously, that’s not good for your health, and while regular exercise helps offset those large swaths of sedentary time, it doesn’t cancel them out completely.

The good news is, a new study from the Annals of Internal Medicine suggests a relatively easy way to combat the negative effects of sitting down all day:

Stand up every 30 minutes and walk around for a bit.

It doesn’t have to be long. A quick loop around the office is enough to do the trick. If you need something to help you remember, try a web-based application like EVO that’ll send you a notification every 30 minutes, or search for a “break reminder” app on your phone.
