This spring, the YMCA of Metro Chicago is introducing several exciting, innovative new fitness and nutrition programs at memberships centers throughout Chicagoland: Advanced Y MaxTraining®, the Visual Eating and Exercise Program (VEEP) and Deep Water Cadence Running. Here’s a closer look at all three.
Years ago, the YMCA introduced an innovative exercise system called the Y MaxTraining System®, which has since changed the lives of hundreds of people across Chicagoland. Now, we’re unveiling an even more challenging and holisitic option for individuals who take their training seriously. The Advanced Y MaxTraining System® is a research-based exercise and nutrition system customized for your goals, nutritional habits, health and fitness experience and predispositions.
Enhancements include extending the supervised portion to 45 minutes, and new exercises in each portion focused on Full Body, Endurance/Volume and Power. It also includes VEEP (see below, a science-based platform for creating a custom eating plan based on your current weight loss goals and exercise habits), a weekly exercise plan for days without your trainer, progress monitoring and accountability, and monthly weight goals. Contact your local Y for more details.
VEEP is a science-based system that uses targeted nutrition to optimize your weight and keep your body young. It’s not a diet, but a way to use foods for functional outcomes. Functional food combining lets you eat freely. No tracking required! The core problem is not weight loss, it’s controlling your weight in real life. The weight-loss phase of VEEP involves getting the fat off without creating the hormonal rebound that makes your body regain the weight. VEEP draws from over 3,000 of the most recent studies to create a customized eating plan based on your current weight-loss goals and exercise habits. VEEP is included at no cost with our Y MaxTraining System® and Advanced Y MaxTraining System.® VEEP can also be purchased as an add-on to your membership to jumpstart your healthy living goals. Contact your local Y for more details.
Deep Water Cadence Running is a deep-water running class that uses evidence-based, cadence-specific workouts to achieve peak athletic performance. Whether you’re training for a run, recovering from an injury or prone to injuries, deep-water running is an impact-free way to engage your entire body while building up your endurance and cardiovascular conditioning. Teresa Triche, a two-time Olympic qualifier, is known for her Deep Water Cadence Running program, which has helped countless runners, soccer players, NBA players, Navy officers and Wounded Warriors veterans recover from injuries and get in the best shape of their lives. There are no pre-qualifications to participate (other than being able to swim comfortably in deep water) and flotation belts are provided by the Y.
