Halftime Happy Hour, an annual event hosted by the YMCA of Metro Chicago Associate Board, joins together young professionals from across Chicagoland to enjoy tastings and beverages from local restaurants and breweries — all while supporting a philanthropic event. Guests also have the opportunity to watch their favorite teams on their quest toward becoming college basketball’s national champion.

This year's Halftime Happy Hour — scheduled for Thursday, March 22 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Chop Shop in support of the Y Foodies program— is possible thanks to our incredible event sponsors: Ernst & Young, Katten Muchin Rosenman, LyftThe Martin Brower Company, and Schafer Condon Carter. We are humbled to see the unrivaled community leadership shown by these generous organizations. Their efforts will make the Associate Board’s annual fundraiser a great success.

Tickets for the event are currently on sale and can be purchased here for the all-you-can-enjoy madness of food, drinks and college basketball.

In 2017, the event was attended by nearly 200 guests and raised over $20,000 to support at-risk youth. This year, the Y hopes to increase both attendance and philanthropy to make an even larger impact in the Chicago area.

“Our board is thrilled to raise awareness and support of the Y Foodies program this year,” explains Courtney Nickele, Event Co-Chair. “The teens in this program are exposed to educational and career opportunities they otherwise might not have access to, which aligns with the mission of our board. We we are proud to spread the word about this initiative through Halftime Happy Hour.”

The YMCA Foodies program is a teen culinary curriculum that engages youth in exploring cultural identity and solutions to the issues that underlie health and food access in their communities.
