June is Men’s Health Month! Research over the years shows that the life expectancy for men is significantly lower compared to women due to a higher rates of fatal illnesses such as heart disease and stroke.
Summer sessions at the Y are underway with plenty of challenging fitness programs that will push men towards healthier lifestyles and habits. Here are some classes going on at various Chicagoland YMCA centers:
It’s never too late to learn: Adult Beginner Swimming is for those interested in developing this important skill.
For those with experience, perfect your stroke at Advanced Swimming — perfect for anyone desiring to train for triathlons.
Fitness Boxing focuses on building upper-body strength and hand-eye coordination.
Boot Camp combines cardio and strength training into 90 minute classes. Different class packages are available to fit even the busiest of schedules.
“Extreme Strength” Strength Training is perfect for anyone wanting to take their fitness to the next level.
The Y hosts team leagues all year long in various sports including soccer and basketball.
Have a passion for swimming? Sign up to become a certified American Red Cross lifeguard at various YMCA centers.
