Congratulations, high school graduates, on four years of hard work and achievements! But just when you thought the days of essays and presentations were over with, you remember: college is right around the corner!
Don’t worry — your new life as an undergraduate doesn’t have to come as a surprise.
Bradford Holmes, a professional SAT tutor, gives five tips for recent grads who find themselves at the halfway point between summer break and fall semester.
One of his top tips: use your break to explore different careers and find the ones that interest you most. This will help you once it’s time to choose a major and minor, so be sure to take plenty of time to do your research. Shadow professionals in your chosen fields and ask as many questions as possible in order to fully understand the responsibilities involved.
Another tip: read up on old study materials! Refresh your mind on basic subjects such as math and biology in order to stay ahead once classes start.
