The 11th annual Summer Games, held in July in partnership with Goldman Sachs, brought together 450 children from the School Age programs at the McCormick Tribune, North Lawndale, South Chicago, South Side, Wabash and Rauner YMCAs.
Summer Games represents the YMCA of Metro Chicago’s longest running corporate partnership. Thirty volunteers from Goldman Sachs enjoyed the day as much as the youth, and with a multitude of inflatable jungle gyms, field day activities, crafts and board games to choose from, it’s easy to see why.
“The children look forward to meeting their peers from other centers and forming friendships, even though they only see each other once a year,” says Leslie Hampton, Nutrition, Health and Transportation Operations Director for Early Childhood and Education Programs at the YMCA of Metro Chicago.
Summer Games is among thousands of projects sponsored every year through Goldman Sachs’ Community TeamWorks global volunteer initiative. Last year, 52 Goldman Sachs offices partnered with nearly 900 nonprofit organizations across the U.S. to complete over 1,580 projects worldwide. More than 25,000 Goldman Sachs employees, family and friends contributed over 125,000 hours to the communities where they work and live.
“We were thrilled once again to partner with the YMCA in the 11th Annual Summer Games,” said Bonnie Fong, Vice President at Goldman Sachs. “Goldman Sachs is committed to giving back to our community and helping to build strong children and families.”
