Elmhurst YMCA Sports Director Nick Cronin with a few ice skating aficionados during balmier times.

For young hockey players hoping to lace up their skates and get on the ice, the extreme weather might require a change of plans—not so for the Elmhurst YMCA family and staff. The Y is able to keep its youth hockey league playing on its outdoor rink by taking cold-weather precautions to keep players safe, including frequent warm-up breaks and making sure they are properly dressed and prepared.
