On September 20, YSVP executive director Eddie Bocanegra was one of a dozen experts gathered for a special Chicago Tonight on WTTW to discuss Rahm Emanuel’s new public safety plan. The plan, a response to the uptick in violence in Chicago this year, focuses on what Emanuel calls the four Ps: policing, punishment, prevention and parenting. Eddie commented on the importance of family and role-model support in transcending violence and suggested that supportive services in the community effect greater change than punitive measures.
