What Attracted you to work at the Y:
I was drawn to the Y because of the variety of programs the Y offers. I knew that it would be a great opportunity to experience the many fields of fitness and my time here would be invaluable to determine where I want to go with my career.
How long have you worked at the Y:
What is your position:
What is your favorite class/thing about the Y:
What impressed me the most about the Y is how great the Y is about providing people of all ages, from preschoolers to their grandparents, with opportunities to exercise. Even if you only want to use the weight or cardio rooms their equipment is of the same quality, if not better than the rec center of a state university.
As far as my favorite class goes, there are still so many classes that I want to try that I haven’t yet. My favorite classes so far would either be Grit Plyometrics because it is a different cardio workout than your typical running or biking workouts; or Heavy Ropes and Kettlebells because battle ropes are another tool that other gyms don’t always have that is great for developing muscular strength and endurance.
What is different about the Y than other places you have worked:
The Y is different from all my other jobs because the trainers and instructors know many of the members by name. I have seen instructors get pulled over in the hallway multiple times in one trip because members had a new fitness story to tell them. This creates a genuine, friendly atmosphere with the staff that is hard to find in other places.
I still enjoy playing soccer games here and there when my friends and I have time.
