American Red Cross Lifeguard ( 4 classes )
American Red Cross Lifeguarding Blended Learning Course for anyone looking to receive training to become a lifeguard for the first time. All participants must pass a basic swimming skills test to be allowed to take part in this course. Online pre-course work is required to be completed prior to the first day of the class. A non-refundable $50 fee will be collected and applied to the cost of the course. Cancellation policy that affects reimbursement of the course fee. Only participants with a doctors note will be eligible for full reimbursement. Paying for or participating in this course is not a guarantee of certification. All skills must be evaluated and exams passed at a minimum of 80% per the American Red Cross standards to become a certified lifeguard.

Swim Lessons Stage 1: WATER ACCLIMATION
Water Acclimation is appropriate for preschool and school age participants. Students will become comfortable independently going underwater and learn how to exit the water safely. Safety is reinforced when students learn about the importance of lifeguard/adult supervision, asking permission before going into any body of water, and life jackets. Goggles are not recommended for this stage.
The price indicated is a monthly rate. The monthly charge will continue while progressing through the stages and until you notify us that you wish to discontinue the lessons.

Swim Lessions Stage 3: WATER STAMINA
Water Stamina is appropriate for preschool and school age participants. Students will build endurance to perform the safety sequence of swim-float-swim up to a length of the pool. Treading water up to one minute and getting to safety in deep water will be reinforced through jump-push-turn-grab sequence. Safety will be reinforced when students learn about sun safety and calling 9-1-1. Goggles are not recommended for this stage.

With generous funding support from SC Johnson, the YMCA of Metro Chicago is providing 1,000 Chicagoland youth with one month of free swim lessons designed just for you and your skill level in and around water.
