March 12, 2013 — Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced his Summer Learning initiative today, the first coordinated and dedicated approach of its kind to provide youth in every Chicago neighborhood access to high-quality programs that will help them continue to learn throughout the summer months.
March 11, 2013 — Marquette Companies, developers of the proposed Water Street District in downtown Naperville have underwritten the upcoming summer season for the Fry Family YMCA’s youth leadership and social responsibility program, CAMP E.D.G.E. The program, which fosters community volunteerism, leadership and team work in older middle schoolers and young high school students will be offered for several weeks during the summer months. Along with volunteering for local organizations, campers will participate in team- building and leadership activities and fun challenges that build confidence and self- esteem.

October 20, 2012 — A dream is now a reality for children in the Irving Park neighborhood of Chicago as their drawings were turned into a new playground today. In less than eight hours, the play space was built at the Irving Park YMCA with the help of more than 200 volunteers from the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, the McDonald's Foundation and non-profit KaBOOM!. The new playground will serve hundreds of children in the community for years to come.
September 28, 2012 — The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago will provide extended day camp activities (structured play, sports, crafts) during the Prairie Grove School District work stoppage at our Sage YMCA (701 Manor Road).
September 24, 2012 — In continuing efforts to ensure the needs of area families are satisfied, today the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago announces its plans to expand the Fry Family YMCA, located at 2120 W. 95th Street in south Naperville. The renovations will have positive effects on both programming, with the addition of two preschool classrooms and a viewing area in front of the pool, and space, with the construction of a family locker room and expanded parking. The expansion is expected to be complete in the first quarter of 2013, and the Fry Family YMCA will remain open during construction.
September 16, 2012 — The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago reminds families that extended day camp activities (structured play, sports, crafts) will continue on Monday, September 17 during the CPS work stoppage at our urban YMCAs - South Side, Rauner, McCormick Tribune, Kelly Hall, West Communities, Lakeview, Leaning Tower, Irving Park, High Ridge and our community North Lawndale YMCA.
September 11, 2012 — The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is providing extended day camp activities (structured play, sports, crafts) during the CPS work stoppage at our urban YMCAs - South Side, Rauner, McCormick Tribune, Kelly Hall, West Communities, Lake View, Leaning Tower, Irving Park, High Ridge and our community North Lawndale YMCA. Extended day camp began at all facilities on Monday, September 10, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. with the exception of West Communities, under renovation, which will be held at Chicago Lawn United Methodist Church at 3500 W. 63rd Place with the hours of 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
August 24, 2012 — The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, McDonald's (through the McDonald's Foundation) and the Greater Chicago Food Depository launched Play Days, a curriculum-based program aimed at engaging more children in active play and healthy habits.
August 13, 2012 — (Oak Brook, Ill., August 13, 2012) McDonald's, through the McDonald's Foundation, today announced a new partnership with KaBOOM!, a national non-profit that envisions a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America. McDonald's President and CEO Don Thompson made the announcement at a playground build at the South Side YMCA in Chicago at 63rd and Stony Island Ave.

June 13, 2012 — The Y is a safe place for children to learn, play and grow at any time of year! The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago offers a number of day and overnight camps throughout the summer that offer kids the opportunity to make the most of their summer and time out of school – providing activities, healthy meals and experiential learning opportunities.
May 09, 2012 — The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago hosted the second annual Scholastic Spectacular, a night of trivia and entertainment from participants in its Community Schools Initiative – students faced off in front of a packed auditorium of cheering classmates, teachers, family members and Y supporters at the Chicago History Museum.
April 23, 2012 — The Y of Metro Chicago is making it that much easier to get fit this spring by offering free enrollment when you join the Y between April 28 and May 12. As an added incentive, come in the first day – April 28th – during Healthy Kids Day activities, and receive an additional $100 in Y bucks to put toward program, class or camp fees.
March 26, 2012 — The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago was recognized as a 2012 Laureate by IDG’s Computerworld Honors Program. The annual award program honors visionary applications of information technology promoting positive social, economic and educational change.
March 12, 2012 — Representatives from the American Beverage Association (ABA) and Illinois Beverage Association were joined today by State Senator Tony Munoz, State Representative Eddie Acevedo, Alderman Danny Solis, Cook County Commissioner Robert Steele and other community leaders at the Rauner Family YMCA to formerly recognize the Y as the recipient of a coveted $50,000 grant from the ABA.
March 07, 2012 — Visit Y of Metro Chicago locations across the city and suburbs on Friday, March 16 or Saturday, March 17 and join for just $17, and the rest of the month of March is free!
February 01, 2012 — There's still time to commit to being a healthier you in 2012! YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago member centers have extended their New Year's deals and will waive enrollment fees to new members through February 6, and provide new members with $100 Y bucks that can be used for Y programs.
January 12, 2012 — The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago will launch a week-long, Metro-wide food drive on Martin Luther King Jr., Day to benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) and the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
