March 11, 2013 — Marquette Companies, developers of the proposed Water Street District in downtown Naperville have underwritten the upcoming summer season for the Fry Family YMCA’s youth leadership and social responsibility program, CAMP E.D.G.E. The program, which fosters community volunteerism, leadership and team work in older middle schoolers and young high school students will be offered for several weeks during the summer months. Along with volunteering for local organizations, campers will participate in team- building and leadership activities and fun challenges that build confidence and self- esteem.

October 20, 2012 — A dream is now a reality for children in the Irving Park neighborhood of Chicago as their drawings were turned into a new playground today. In less than eight hours, the play space was built at the Irving Park YMCA with the help of more than 200 volunteers from the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, the McDonald's Foundation and non-profit KaBOOM!. The new playground will serve hundreds of children in the community for years to come.

September 24, 2012 — In continuing efforts to ensure the needs of area families are satisfied, today the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago announces its plans to expand the Fry Family YMCA, located at 2120 W. 95th Street in south Naperville. The renovations will have positive effects on both programming, with the addition of two preschool classrooms and a viewing area in front of the pool, and space, with the construction of a family locker room and expanded parking. The expansion is expected to be complete in the first quarter of 2013, and the Fry Family YMCA will remain open during construction.

September 11, 2012 — The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is providing extended day camp activities (structured play, sports, crafts) during the CPS work stoppage at our urban YMCAs - South Side, Rauner, McCormick Tribune, Kelly Hall, West Communities, Lake View, Leaning Tower, Irving Park, High Ridge and our community North Lawndale YMCA. Extended day camp began at all facilities on Monday, September 10, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. with the exception of West Communities, under renovation, which will be held at Chicago Lawn United Methodist Church at 3500 W. 63rd Place with the hours of 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
