At the heart of the Oswego Family YMCA is the power to transform—both yourself and the world around you.

A CLOSER LOOK

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the holidays, the Oswego Family YMCA community took some time to not only think of the less fortunate, but to help members of their own center realize their dreams of a brighter season. In the past year, given the state of the economy, Oswego Y noticed an uptick in fee assistance applications. Wanting to make the holiday a joyful time for those with stressed budgets, the staff initiated the Oswego Family YMCA Angel Tree.

All Oswego Y families who were in the fee assistance program were invited to send in a wish list for any children under the age of 18. Upon receiving a family’s wish list, staff then wrote each item on an angel hanging on the tree, which YMCA members could then select to buy the requested gift. Once all the gifts were purchased, families were able to pick up their presents and wrap the gifts for their children themselves. It was a happy holiday indeed: the overwhelming response to the notion that charity begins at home meant that every single wish that lined the tree was fulfilled.

THE OSWEGO FAMILY YMCA

As a nonprofit organization committed to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Oswego Family YMCA has been proud to help our neighbors learn, grow and thrive for over 15 years.

Between the whistles of the youth basketball games, the beat of the aerobics class and children laughing at summer camp, the Oswego Family YMCA strengthens bodies, minds and communities. Where some see obstacles, we see opportunities for our members, volunteers, program participants and staff to make a difference.

The Oswego YMCA serves the growing communities of Oswego, Montgomery and Aurora. For more than 5,884 members, 151 volunteers and 361 program participants, the Oswego Family YMCA is a destination where local children and families have the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve, and where people of all ages, interests and abilities can build and maintain healthy lifestyle habits.

THE Y MEETS COMMUNITY NEEDS
