What time is check-in/check-out?

Check-in is anytime after 4pm on their Saturday arrival date. Check out is before 10am on their Saturday departure date. The office and Welcome center are closed from 12 noon until 4 pm on Saturdays as Nawakwa staff is preparing camp for your arrival.

Is camp handicap accessible?

Camp Nawakwa does have two cabins that are handicap accessible. These cabins have several features that accommodate campers with special needs. Please contact camp for more information.

Does camp have a dining hall?

Each family is responsible for preparing their own food. Refrigerators, ovens, stoves, dishware, cooking utensils, and campfire pits are provided.

There is no shortage of prepared food in the north woods due to an array of fine dining experiences as well as simple fast food places. If you’re too tired to cook, an evening out will enlighten the entire group.

Are pets allowed?

Pets are allowed in camp. A pet fee is charged if you bring a pet to camp.  All pet owners must follow the pet policies in the policies and procedures packet

Does camp provide bedding/linens?

You will need to bring bath, dish, and beach towels; bedding or sleeping bags and pillows for your family.

Are there laundry facilities?

Coin operated washers and dryers are located in North Camp.

How close is the nearest grocery store?

You can purchase groceries in either Lac du Flambeau (10 minutes from), Minocqua, or Woodruff (20 minutes from camp).

What is available in the camp store?

The camp store sells food items such as milk, bread, eggs, soda, chips, cookies, and ice cream to name a few things. We also sell fishing licenses and bait (nightcrawlers and panfish worms). We do stock some basic health and beauty items such as toothbrushes and soap. Don’t forget to check out our Camp Nawakwa clothing!

Can I bring my own firewood?

According to DNR regulations firewood must be from Wisconsin and must be from less than 25 miles from where you plan to burn it. We do sell firewood at camp.

Are there phones? computers? Televisions?

There are two phones in camp, one in the Welcome Center and one in the South Camp Lodge for camper use. You must use a calling card to make long distance phone calls. Messages will be delivered to campers mailboxes in the Welcome Center.

We offer free wireless internet access at the Welcome Center and South Camp Lodge. You must use your own laptop (with wireless capability).

There are no televisions in camp.
