Before and After School Care
Before School:
The Leaning Tower YMCA (LTY) School Age Child Care Programs is proud to partner with several Chicago Public Schools for the 2011-2012 school year to provide quality child care for children in elementary school, grades K-5, Monday through Friday.
The Before School Program is held at the Leaning Tower YMCA starting at 7am. The children are supervised by YMCA staff and are engaged in various activities and then are transport by YMCA mini busses to school prior to the starting bell.

After School:
In the After School Programs the children are picked up from school by YMCA mini busses and transported to the Leaning Tower YMCA where they are supervised and engaged in various activities by YMCA staff until 6pm.

Edison Park Elementary:
LTY also offers an On-site Before and After School Program with Edison Park Elementary School. The programs are held on-side at Edison Park Elementary School where LTY staff supervisor and engage the children in various activities. The before school program runs from 6:45am to the starting bell and the After School Program runs from the ending bell to 6pm.
All Programs:
All the LTY programs offer homework assistance, games and sports during gym time, a healthy snack and outdoor activities including use of the playground, field, and track when weather permits. Arts and Crafts, Science, Drama and Reading enrichment activities are also included each week.*During the After School Programs held at LTY, recreation swimming is offered in addition to staff being available to transport children from the After School Program to other YMCA programs for which the child is registered such as swimming lessons, sports classes, tae kwon do, etc*. (*excluding Edison Park)
The goals of the child care programs are:
- To protect and promote the children’s health and fitness.
- To promote the children’s social and emotional development.
- To provide a nurturing environment.
- To provide the opportunity to succeed.
- To develop an atmosphere of confidence.
- To instill the YMCA character development values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

School’s Out Days
The YMCA will provide School Out Days for holidays and non-school days. The program will be held here at Leaning Tower and will run from 7:00am to 6:00pm. Children must be paid and registered ONE WEEK in advance for these days and have correct forms on file. SPACE IS LIMITED and may close before the registration deadline. Children must bring a lunch, swim suit, towel, and bathing cap for hair longer then their ear lobes every school’s out day. We will not allow any child to participate in a School Out Day if they are not registered in advance and correct forms are not on file.
Fees per day: $40 Members/$60 Non- Members.
