LTY Sharks Finish Season Strong!
Lattof Summer Finale...The Sharks took First place as a team again this year. Lots and lots of lifetime bests. High Point Winners were: Kate Ferraro (6 & under girls), Hannah Shimada (8 & under girls), Natalie Wajda (9-10 girls), Zach Butters (9-10 boys), Mia Piljevic (11-12 girls), and Michael Placzek (11-12 boys).
ISI Regional Championships...New JO qualifying times for Tyler Shimada and Jakub Kapusta. New short-course team records for Hannah Shimada (8 & under girls 50 fly) and Annika Wagner (9-10 girls 200 fly, 200 breast, and 400 IM). YMCA National qualifying time for Stefan Roeseler in 100 breast.
YMCA Long-Course Nationals...5 swimmers attended from our team (Maddy Coffey, Matt Gullickson, Meghan Lavelle, Stefan Roeseler, and Jenna Zitkus). We finished 41st out of 116 teams. 18 out of 23 swims were lifetime bests. New team records for Matt Gullickson (100 & 200 fly), Meghan Lavelle (100 & 200 back, 200 & 400 IM), and Jenna Zitkus (50 & 100 back, 50 & 100 fly). Jenna made All-American status in the 50 & 100 back (14th place in the 50). Meghan made All-American status in the 100 & 200 back, 200 & 400 IM (8th place in 200 back).
ISI Age-Group Championships...14 swimmers participated in the meet with a team finish of 34th place out of more than 100 teams. Individual qualifiers were Jakub Kapusta, Taylor Pinkerton, Tyler Shimada, and Annika Wagner. New team records were set by Taylor (13-14 girls 1500 free), Hannah Shimada (8 & under girls 50 free), and Annika Wagner (9-10 girls 100 fly, 100 breast, 200 IM, and 400 free). Annika placed Top-6 in all of her individual events, capped off by a 1st place finish in the 100 breaststroke!
CONGRATULATIONS to all of our Shark swimmers who showed up to race BIG TIME at these meets & showed why the Sharks are a team to be reckoned with!
