Ravi Hansra, Ed. D., is the senior vice president of learning, evaluation, and community impact for the YMCA of Metro Chicago.
Joining the YMCA in October 2016, Ravi cultivates the Y’s portfolio of high-quality, evidence-based programming through program assessment, staff professional development, and curriculum design and implementation. She also manages new and existing program partnerships and oversees our community outreach and government relations. Ravi works with the leadership team to originate and run collective-impact activities related to the Y Center’s Learning Institute, including conferences, speaker series, and community collaborations.
She has experience translating human development research into practice by creating a robust curriculum for the K-12 education space as well as for adult learners, particularly in the areas of literacy and leadership development. Prior to her position at the Y, she was a leadership development consultant at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where she developed curriculum for clinical and nonclinical leaders related to the organization’s mission and vision. She has consulted internationally on curriculum design and instruction, organizational and cultural change, teacher professional development, and program evaluation. She has taught locally as well: she served as a high school English teacher in the Naperville School district for eight years and is currently a visiting professor at DePaul University since 2011.
Ravi holds a doctorate in curriculum studies from DePaul University, a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from National Louis University, and a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from DePaul University. She completed her post-doctoral studies at the University of Chicago in comparative human development.
