Special Olympics

Fun for the whole family is the motto of the Greater LaGrange YMCA, which is why we also provide swimming and bowling teams for our Special Olympians. Individuals are eligible for Special Olympics provided they are:

  • Persons age 11 and older who are considered to have an intellectual disability or cognitive delay.greater lagrange special olympics
  • Persons who have closely related developmental disabilities such as those who have functional limitations, both in general learning and in adaptive skills such as recreation, work, independent living, self-direction or self-care.
  • There is no maximum age limitation for participation, while the minimum age requirement is 11 years of age.

The season runs from May through November and practices are held at Rolling Lanes, 6301 Joliet Rd, Countryside, IL 60525. The district tournament is held in Addison, IL in July annually.
