Young adults will save up to 50 percent off membership to the Greater LaGrange YMCA, thanks to a new pricing plan being introduced by the Y as it continues to seek new ways to help people across the Chicago area exercise their potential. Individuals between the ages of 19 and 26 can take advantage of the Y’s signature health and wellness programs for the new price of only $24.99 per month, with no contract and no hidden fees. The Reduced Young Adult rate is offered only through YMCA of Metro Chicago locations.
The Y of Metro Chicago’s unprecedented move to reduce rates for young adults makes it easy for workforce newcomers or college graduates to develop fitness and wellness habits to keep them healthy, strong and sharp, whether at work or play.
“The YMCA launched the new reduced rate after a successful month-long pilot attracted an immediate, extraordinary response – with more than 550 new young adults joining seven Chicago and suburban Y membership centers,” said the YMCA of Metro Chicago President and CEO Richard Malone.
“This group of adults has been hardest hit by the recession, and their high level of interest proves they have a desire to stay fit. So we are making an investment in them now so they get off to the right start in developing lifelong health and wellness habits,” Malone added.
With 22 membership centers in the city and suburbs, the Y of Metro Chicago has excellent facilities, new equipment and deep expertise helping people of all ages make healthy choices at every stage of their lives. All YMCA of Metro Chicago memberships are contract-free, rather than the long-term contracts at many for-profit gyms. As a non-profit organization the YMCA relies on the strength of its staff, programming, and community service mission to keep members coming back.
The pilot program ran in both city and suburban locations, and received a strong and enthusiastic response. Not surprisingly, locations that attracted the greatest numbers of new young adult members were communities with sizeable populations of recent college graduates, such as the Lake View YMCA on Chicago's north side.
The YMCA of Metro Chicago is launching the reduced rate for young adults during Love Your Heart Weekend, February 21 – 23. This popular promotion encourages a heart-healthy lifestyle and invites members and prospective members to visit the Y as a guest all 3 days to exercise their heart by using the facilities and participating in free classes. Those who sign up for memberships during the event will pay zero dollars to join and receive the rest of their February membership for free. Members and guests who wear red in honor of American Heart Health Month that weekend can also enter to win a free YMCA fleece!
