On an annual basis, the Y reaches 57,000 youth in urban and suburban settings throughout Chicago. Our volunteers are committed to sharing their skills and expertise. Your time and talent can go a long way, learn Y you should start volunteering today!
1) Try something new
Whether looking for a hobby or interested in helping out, the Y is the place for you! Serve your community and help with youth programs, special events or join one of the Y’s local committees.
2) Choose from a group, corporate or an individual volunteer experiences
At the YMCA, we appreciate all our groups and corporate volunteers. There is strength in numbers when working on special events, center cleanup efforts and collection drives. Use volunteering as an opportunity to network, build relationships with co-workers and made a difference.
3) Stay connected
Serving your community keeps you connected to others. If you are new to the neighborhood or looking to enhance your YMCA experience, consider volunteering. Be involved with your center and find opportunities to make an impact.
4) Make a difference
Be a professional role model. By volunteering in one of our programs, children learn and grow with you! Help with youth sports by coaching or keeping score. Other opportunities to volunteer and work with youth include the Black and Latino Achievers Program, Youth and Teen Leadership Program and Youth Safety and Violence Prevention Program.
5) Share your talents
Be an inspiration. As a coach, share your passion for the game or keep score. Other volunteer opportunities include sharing talents of music, art, performing arts or a foreign language.
